Road Win Lifts Mauna Loa to 1-0 Lead in R1
The Mauna Loa Vulcans faced a tough opponent in Osakasayama Swamp Dragons center fielder Yoshisada Shimizu, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Wild Card, which they now lead 1-0. The Vulcans won 6-4 at Swamp Dragons Ballpark, despite the efforts of Shimizu, who went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Mauna Loa used the clutch hitting of Scott Escobar to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Vulcans the lead, 4-3. For the game, Escobar had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Escobar.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Swamp Dragons Ballpark in Osakasayama.
