Home Field Advantage: Shao, Kauai Open Divisional with Win
The Kauai Monsters started the Divisional in style today, downing the visiting Waimalu Nene at Brewers Ballpark by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Monsters right-hander Chee-hwa Shao threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Edward Frawley came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Waimalu pitcher Jorge Rojas, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kauai on top, 4-3.

Frawley told a Kauai Observer reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Brewers Ballpark in Kapaa.
