Mighty Moose Hammered by Puente, Fall Further Behind in R4
Riding the 3-hit performance of shortstop Ernesto Puente, the Ewa Beach Imperialists stopped the visiting Anchorage Mighty Moose, 6-1, in Game 2 of the Surf and Snow Cup today. Puente went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Imperialists, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.

The Imperialists took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Facing Anchorage hurler Li-zhu Ho with two outs, Puente hit a 2-run double.

"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Puente said in postgame remarks.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Citizens Ballpark in Anchorage.
