Prospectors Down Avalanche, 4-3

Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Angoon Avalanche home opener. Kuniaki Okabe started for the home team against Hsui-chuan Zhou for the Skagway Prospectors. The Avalanche were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-3, Skagway. Kuniaki Okabe, though, was impressive.
Skagway needed the clutch hitting of Rafael Sandoval to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Prospectors on top, 4-3. For the game, Sandoval had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Sandoval. "I like it."
