Rikkyo University Beats Meiji University, 2-0

The Rikkyo University Bishops topped the Meiji University Troika, 2-0, in Pacific League action at Field of the Angels. The game was highlighted by the performance of Rikkyo University pitcher Toshiharu Eida. In 7 innings, Eida surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. At 23-27, the Bishops find themselves in 5th place in the Pacific League Tokyo Big6 Division.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Bishops had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Kei Ikeda hit a 2-run single. The single came off Oniji Sato and made the score 2-0, Bishops. Ikeda went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"Bottom line," said Meiji University skipper Yong-sup Chong, "we didn't play well enough to win."
