Mules Sneak By Terrors, 2-1

In a low-scoring affair between the Instituto Politecnico Nacional Mules and the Hamilton Canada Terrors, pitcher Fernando Vega was the difference between victory and defeat. The Instituto Politecnico Nacional right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Mules win. Reliever Cris Ruíz picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Tasuku Kimura took the loss. The save was credited to John Curwen, his 3rd.
Mario Puente, the 19-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Puente contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Instituto Politecnico Nacional up, 2-1.
"Credit where credit is due," said Puente, "this was a team win."
Hamilton Canada is 2-5 after the defeat.
