Martínez Blasts 3 into Bleachers Monday, March 21st , 2039 Fernando Martínez went on an explosive hitting spree against the Annapolis HS Jaguars at Mobile Ballpark today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Mobile Christian HS Cheetahs to the 11-2 win. The second baseman finished 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. "It was just one of those days," Martínez said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Annapolis HS skipper Timothy Hall said Martínez was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Fernando Martínez singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Lee Hale in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off David Wiley in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Zach Fernández in the 7th. For the season Martínez is currently batting .274 with 8 home runs and 14 RBIs. In 20 games he has reached base at a .376 rate and scored 16 runs to date. |
