Sprague HS Advances to Round 2 Sunday, May 1st , 2039 The Round 1 may not have lived up to the expectation that it would be a dogfight that would go the distance. The Sprague HS Torchbearers, however, are not complaining. The Torchbearers were plenty happy to have wrapped up the series early and to have knocked out the Yerington HS Skeeters to advance to the Round 2. Sprague HS won the final game by a 1-0 count at Ballpark of the Torchbearers and the series 4-2. Torchbearers right fielder Ricardo Santos was named series MVP, as he hit .348 with a .423 on-base percentage. He added 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. "It's not going to be the last time Yerington HS makes it to the playoffs, so it's sure a nice feeling to put them out this year," Santos said. "We just need to keep this going and take it day by day." The Sprague HS Torchbearers will play against the Chatsworth HS Chancellors in the next round. Chatsworth HS won their series against the Brophy Prep Broncos 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. View Boxscore |
