Fernando Martínez Nabs Best Player Trophy Monday, June 13th , 2039 The manager of the Mobile Christian HS Cheetahs said he thinks Fernando Martínez is only going to get better as he gets older. He may only be 18, but it will be hard to top the second baseman's 2039 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Eastern League Outstanding Hitter Award. His winning campaign featured a .318 batting average and a .402 on-base percentage this year. In 47 games he piled up 57 hits, 9 doubles, 5 triples, 19 home runs, 38 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He received 43 first place votes out of a possible 44. Ted Kelley of the Moody HS Trojans finished second in voting, while Matt Enríquez of the James River HS Rapids finished third with 1 first place vote.
