Alfonso Santiago Out for Season Thursday, March 22nd , 2040 Alfonso Santiago is doubtful to make the playoffs this year, according to sources within the Union City HS organization. Although the injury was initially thought to be not serious, tests have revealed the player will be out up to 10 months with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. The 17-year-old starting pitcher suffered the injury throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Moody HS Trojans. Presently Santiago has a 1-1 mark in 5 starts with a 1.23 ERA. He has given up 20 hits in 22 innings, struck out 13 and issued 4 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .233 batting average against him. |
