Hat Trick of Home Runs for Salinas
Friday, March 30th , 2040
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at Thunderhawk Field today, as Nelson Salinas of the Tumwater HS Thunderhawks unloaded three times against the Lakewood HS Lancers but was still bumped off 9-6 by the Lancers.

"We were lucky to win today," said Lakewood HS skipper Jimmy Martin. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the Tumwater HS first baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5.

Salinas spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

Nelson Salinas hit a solo-shot off Preston Townsend in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Albert Trujillo in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Bill Hall in the 9th.

This season Salinas is batting .256 with 20 hits, 4 home runs, 12 RBIs, .306 OBP and has scored 9 runs.
