Sykes Belts 3 HRs Thursday, July 21st , 2039 Akutan Island Eagles third baseman Marvin Sykes left the Sitka pitching staff in ruins at Enfield Grounds today, beating the Capitals 12-8 with a prodigious three-home run performance. "The last one was totally unexpected," Sykes told reporters at the press conference following his big game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get a home run, and bang, I got number three." For the game, the Akutan Island third baseman had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 7 and scored 3 runs. Marvin Sykes grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Tadakuni Yoshida in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Josh Lindsay in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Namboku Ono in the 8th. Sykes is batting .338 this season in 50 games with 15 home runs, 47 RBIs and 29 runs scored. He has 66 hits in 195 at-bats. |
