Carruthers HL Selection for 2039 Outstanding Hitter Award
Sunday, November 13th , 2039
He may have less experience than most of his Surf and Snow Amalgamation peers, but that didn't slow Paul Carruthers down at all in 2039.
At the age of 19, the Kauai first baseman has been named the winner of the Hawaiian League Outstanding Hitter Award.
He had a .318 batting average and a .400 on-base percentage this year. In 105 games he piled up 127 hits, 19 doubles, 3 triples, 53 home runs, 104 RBIs and 93 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 32 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Josh Whiskin of the Mokule'ia Oceanic finished second in voting, while Ernesto Núñez of the Mauna Loa Vulcans finished third.
