Sakurai Belts 3 HR for Shogun Monday, April 9th , 2040 Shigekazu Sakurai brutalized the Rockingham HS Settlers pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 5-1 victory at Shogun Park. The Kochi HS Shogun left fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Shigekazu Sakurai today," Settlers manager Brandon Meade said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Shigekazu Sakurai hit a two-run home run off Michael Tillett in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Michael Tillett in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Nelson Devereux in the 5th and struck out in the 7th. For the season Sakurai is hitting .304, batted in 22 runs with 11 home runs and 23 runs scored. |
